Mountain Biking around Praia Da Luz
The area around Praia da Luz is a paradise for mountain biking. Nothing too difficult but all of it stunningly beautiful and lots of fun. There are way too many trails to list and your best bet is to look them up on the internet. You will find a few examples of routes below.

Below is just one of many marked trails near Praia da Luz. There are 9 marked routes in total, covering over 300 kilometres of marked trails. You might also be interested in the PDF brochure printed by the local council. 2 routes pass right in front of the Luz Beach Apartments.
Choose between “single tracks”, a narrow trail for mountain bikes that is approximately the width of the bike, “double or fire tracks”, which are wide enough for four-wheeled off-road vehicles. Most routes are smooth and flowing, but some may also exhibit technical sections with stones or gravel and may be criss-crossed with small tree roots, muddy sections etc.

Summit to Sea (only available on Mondays)
€85 euros including bike hire
You will be driven to the highest point of the Algarve in our 4x4 backup vehicle, where we buy you a coffee and enjoy the spectacular views before starting our 40km ride to the edge of the ocean. You will descend down the mountain on a mix of old dirt roads and single tracks, at the base of the mountain there is a break for lunch before following a river valley down to the ocean where you will ride along some stunning, flowing single track trail to take us right to the ocean's edge. The total distance is around 40km with 400m climbing and over 1,000m descending! This ride is ideal for good riders looking for an easier day, or a beginner with good off road bike skills looking for more of an adventure. Our 4x4 backup vehicle is with us all day. We do have a minimum of two people to run this ride, please contact us with your available dates if you are on your own so we match you with our other bookings. The maximum group size is six per vehicle.

South Coast
€40 half day including bike hire

This is a great ride starting from our base in Praia da Luz. We head out along the stunning South Coast following lots of hidden single tracks we have built between the villages along the cliffs. On the all day ride we ride out to Lagos and then in the national park where we have lunch then loop back to our shop along different tracks. Our half day version goes to Lagos before we turn back to Praia da Luz, we stop at a cafe on both rides. We can customise this route to be either intermediate or expert.

Wild West Coast
€75 all day including bike hire
Another ride set in the national park, this one is on the West Coast. We use old roads and fire breaks to climb up from and descend down to the beaches along the coast. We have a coffee at Cordorama beach where we start the ride, lunch is at Vila do Bispo. As much of the route is on 4x4 tracks it isn't too technical but it has climbs of up to 150m in one go and plenty of them, it is is serene and stunning place to be, far from the usual tourist haunts. This route is intermediate because of the bike fitness required.

Cliff top tour
€40 half day including bike hire
This is very popular ride taking in some of the most spectacular views around Lagos from the top of the cliffs. We ride from our shop to see the famous cliff formations then ride to the highest point locally which overlooks Praia da Luz where you can see all the way to Sagres. There is a fun, fast descent or a steady decent to the beach depending on how adventurous you feel!
We stop at a cafe on a beach before returning along the cliffs to Praia da Luz. This a half day ride around 18km long and is a scenic route.
